Shri. Nand Kishore Yadav is a veteran BJP leader from Bihar with a background in local business and long-term grassroots political work. Born on August 26, 1953, in Patna to Panna Lal Yadav and Raj Kumari Yadav. He completed his matriculation in 1969 from State Marwari High School, and obtained his Bachelor of Science from Magadh University. From an early age, he was involved in social and political activities and became active in the ideological and organisational work of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1969. He later participated in student activism through the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

He began his public life in local governance and gradually rose to become one of the senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar. His career includes several important roles:

  • Councillor, Patna Municipal Corporation (1978)
  • Deputy Mayor, Patna Municipal Corporation (1982)
  • President, BJP Yuva Morcha, Bihar (1990)
  • General Secretary, BJP Bihar (1995)
  • President, BJP Bihar (1998–2003)
  • Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly (seven terms) representing Patna East and later Patna Sahib constituencies
  • Minister for Road Construction, Tourism, and Health & Family Welfare in the Government of Bihar
  • Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly (2013–2015)
  • 17th Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly (2024–2025)

Known for his long public service and administrative experience, Shri.Nand Kishore Yadav has been associated with legislative leadership, governance, and development initiatives over several decades in Bihar.

On March 5, 2026, he was appointed the Governor of Nagaland by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. He assumed the office as the 23rdGovernor of Nagaland on 13 March 2026.
